Incomplete Order Development
This work resists the recognition of ‘completion upon social consensus. Generally speaking, the concept of completion has beginning and end, and the decision of that end accomplishes the meaning of completion. But, who decides the completion and how? There is a concept of completion in accordance with law, however we confront with infinite number of phase of completion in our daily life. And we always aim for completion and eventually we complete. I understand that how this type of recognition of completion is careless, contrived, and rubbish. This work retains on how the existing recognition of completion demonstrates carelessness.
Some artists who use oil as painterly material always complete their paintings. Although no one else may know when the time and the phase of completion is, the artist himself or herself is surely knows. A shipwright builds a ship according to blue print and the ship gets constructed. And we think that the ship is completed. But would that be truly completion?
This work, upon its production in Styrofoam, the material has been changed to cement. The height of the work is less than 1 meter and the form is similar to human. In other words, the condition of the work remains without realizing what is completion and is stopped at the phase of completion. Styrofoam changes into cement, and dimension is relatively smaller than existing sculptures, and though in a form of human, it is made of Styrofoam roughly, of all which how I define the completion. The completion in this exhibition is not in accordance with personal taste, eccentricity, and communal consensus, or, with pre-exiting consensus.

이 작품은 ‘사회적 합의에 의한 완성’이라는 인식에 대항한다. 일반적으로 완성이라는 개념은 시작과 끝이 있으며, 특히 끝에 대한 결정은 완성이란 의미의 정점을 이룬다. 그러나 완성은 누가 어떻게 결정하는 것인가? 법에 의거된 완성의 개념도 있지만 우리는 일상에서 수도 없는 완성의 단계에 봉착하기 마련이다. 그리고 우리는 언제나 완성을 지향하고 결국 완성해 나간다. 나는 이러한 완성이라는 인식이 얼마나 허술하고 작위적이며 엉터리라는 것을 알고 있다. 이 작품은 기존의 완성이라는 인식이 보여주는 허술함을 이어가는 작품이다.
유화로 그림을 그리는 어떤 화가는 언젠가 그 그림을 완성한다. 그 완성의 시점과 단계가 어떤 것인지는 그 누구도 모르지만 그 화가는 스스로 알고 있다고 확신한다. 배를 만드는 사람들은 설계도면대로 제작하고 결국 배는 언젠가 건조(建造)된다. 그리고 우리는 배가 완성되었다고 생각한다. 그러나 그것은 정말 완성일까?
이 작품郡은 스티로폼에서 만들어 진 후 시멘트로 재료가 바뀌었고, 크기는 1m미만이고, 형태는 사람과 유사하게 만들어 졌다. 즉 무엇이 완성인지 모르는 상태를 유지하며 결국 완성의 단계에서 제작이 정지되었다. 스티로폼이 시멘트로 변하고, 크기는 기존의 미술 조각품보다는 상대적으로 매우 작고, 사람의 형태라고는 하지만 스티로폼에 의해 대충 조합된 것이 완성이라고 정의된 것이다.
이 작품에서의 완성이란 개인적 취향, 기이함, 집단적 합의가 아닌 것, 집단적 학습에 의한 것이 아닌, 기존의 합의가 아닌 것이다.
